Description
Notable changes are all in the build system:
- Man pages are installed now by default
- Locale in configure has been fixed to "C"
- No more hard links (there was a lengthy discussion on -book, once upon the time)

I updated ed in r7745, but I forgot two little issues.
First the "make install-man" isn't needed anymore.
Secondly. I am proposing to use "--bindir=/bin" so ed binaries will go into the root directory. I am going to add also this switch and close the ticket. If anyone has objections please reopen the ticket.
Done in r7746.
