I committed 1.0.37 in r11752 but haven't got around to closing the ticket. So, 1.0.38 is up for grabs.

cups-filters-1.0.38 builds fine without the poppler patch, but I can't test the package.

What do you mean by testing it? Just printing something to my Epson printer? I use gutenprint. i am willing to take this, just wnat to know what is meant by testing.

I thought you used cups-filters to print. If not, then I don't see how you can test it. For me, I have a printer that understands native postscript. I don't need any extra tools to print.

With cups-1.6, the outline of the printer test page (with the penguin and the colours), as well as various things which sit between gutenprint and cups, all come from cups-filters. So, if printing via gutenprint works, the filters work.
I can take this if you like ? - I've reverted my local postgres changes so my sandbox is clean.

I am sorry, I cannot print with VMWLFS7.4. I can scan. From VMLFS7.1 and from the host, I can print. reinstalled everything. Even command line printing fails.

Ken, I consider this a particular problem of my installation. I have had problems when trying the first printing in each new LFS I build, then, suddenly, it starts printing, it is a mystery, I wish I could solve once for all. One time, think you remember, I had to make additional change, in NovoGamerLFS71, which was copied from a VM and I had to add a udev rule. If it works for you, I can update the book. Have all statistics. And later (I mean almost immediately), I will start trying to solve my particular problem.

Yes, it works for me - printed a cups test page, and also some text - good luck fixing your problem.
I note that php is an optional dependency (by the look of things, it needs to be specified by --with-php and friends). and configure mentions:
Also, there is an option --with-test-font-path=value for people who don't have /usr/share/fonts/dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf [ only used for make check : the phrase "does not have a working test suite" is not wholly accurate - the tests work, but spit out a mass of '2c1;' afterwards -
(snipped - there were a lot more of them). Seem to work with
although even that spits a lot of DEBUG information onto the screen.
Will test this on my next build, starting shortly.
