Do you mind if I try to tackle this one? I'd like to get involved (part time) into BLFS book editing, and apr is something I know rather well, because I use it to build subversion

Of course not. :-) There is also apr-1.5.0 at the official download location but I wasn't sure about that one.

from ​this index, APR 1.5.0 is the latest available version. I raise a ticket and accept it too.
