I have seen this version being used in Arch Linux:
Testing texlive-bin 2013.30973-7 TeX Live binaries
But I was not clear in my description: I am not sure if this is a new one, so I created the ticket, and you or other editor could decide about it.

It looks like a non-stable version. See: http://www.tug.org/texlive/
They do once a year releases. I'd expect the next release around June.

From what I can tell, texlive-20130530-source.tar.xz (in the book) is the most current stable release. What do you have that indicates otherwise?
