See above URL. The fix is to use "aclocal && automake -a -f && autoconf -f".

I deliberately avoided the && between the commands since the automake command fails with the following error:

$ automake -acf

doc/man/Makefile.am:2: man8dir' is not a legitimate directory for DATA'
