There hasn't been a release in a long time. Book is currently at -rc1 and there has been a lot of fixes since then. When the final release will arrive I can't say.

I sent an email upstream asking if they know a time frame for a stable release. I'll let you know if I get a response.

I never got a reply. I'm of mixed feeling about this update. As Armin says, there have been a lot of fixes and this packages is quite old.
I was uncomfortable about the package location at people.freedesktop.org, but checking blfs, I see we have other packages from there as well as people.redhat.com, ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people, and pawsa.fedorapeople.org.
I'm personally not aware of the issues that the updated version is supposed to fix, but it probably is better than -rc1.
Go ahead and do it if you want.

I have searched the tarball. The one in the description given by Armin is apparently the same as in Fedora (same md5sum):
Therefore will use the URL from freedesktop.
I found also a post:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/scm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20140203/1187227.html
"File xdg-utils-1.1.0-rc2.tar.gz uploaded to lookaside cache by rdieter"
Is there a reason for the -rc version? Should this just be a placeholder until the stable version is released?
