Fixed at r14321. I confirmed that the sed for i686 to disable optimization is still needed.

After my comment that we are perhaps getting a little too free-and-easy with what goes into 7.6, I will note that this does appear to be a valid change to include. From the release notes it supposedly fixes the following ('supposedly' because I have no way of testing these claims) which look important:
which looks unimportant to me, but who knows ?
Anyway, I dropped this into my latest 7.6 build on x86_64 and do not notice any regressions. My initial impression is that it didn't do the normal "check if up to date" routine on the i686 system on the same box when I went back to that.
For me this is not a priority, but it works on x86_64 with the current instructions and I suppose I will get around to it (measuring it) eventually if nobody else takes this.
