I've been working on this.
It was mentioned by Armin (1) the necessity for updating mplayer to use recent svn checkout.
I did almost this:
Downloaded a snapshot of mplayer and one snapshot of ffmpeg (mplayer svn needs to include ffmpeg in the directory, or asks to get one using git at configure time) and created a tarball:
$ md5sum mplayer-2014-12-19.tar.xz cc32f19f7859dbec0d09134bffc95c85 mplayer-2014-12-19.tar.xz $ du -sh mplayer-2014-12-19.tar.xz 12M player-2014-12-19.tar.xz
Tried to install using system ffmpeg, but failed.
It works fine for the tests I did, so, I think it can be included in the book, uploaded to anduin.
I am a little tired (still the flu), so, only tomorrow I intend to update the page according wuth I wrote above.
For the moment, I am thinking on just updating Clearlooks to 1.6, in the page.
Meanhwhile, please, any comments or objections?
