Version increment. Xft header file has to be patched (XFree86-4.3.0). Replace #include <freetype/freetype.h> by #include <ft2build.h> #include FT_FREETYPE_H . Noticed on qt-3.3.1 (build will break). Other packages need modifications, too.

Expecting problems with 2.1.8. Downgrade to 2.1.7 if we don't find/make the patches for failing packages.

I had a problem with 2.1.8-rc2, IIRC, in getting it to build corrrectly with fontconfig. I agree that we should roll back to 2.1.7 until we can check things out better.

bytecode-interpreter patch has not been copied to the new freetype version and installed in the download repository.

Currently, the patch is a broken link in the BLFS SVN book.
