Description (last modified by ken@…)

Dropping back to biblatex-3.3 it works. I had seen the version mismatch in the log, but convinced myself that I needed the latest versions of each.

Anybody using external modules might well need to update those (when I was looking for biblatex at sf in links I found a Russian package, biblatex-gost I think, which had been updated a few hours ago for what look like related changes.

I'll give this a go when I finish the other tickets I grabbed.

My tests fail (specifically, they run but the bibliography entries are missing in those tests which use biber) - this is not a total surprise to me, there was a report on the tex-live list that external styles need to be changed.

https://github.com/plk/biblatex/issues/372

I suppose I will need to look at the dev branches of both biber and biblatex at github to see what has been committed, and whether that solves my problems. Alternatively, I'll need to work out where the stylesheets I am using come from.

Overall, this does not look like an urgent priority.

I had forgotten that I allow tests in biber to fail, because the locales in OSX apparently differ. Looking at the test results, none were run because it could not find Class/Accessor.pm : that is at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.22.1/Class/Accessor.pm and @INC includes /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.22.1

So, nothing to do with changes to external styles (although those might come later, if I get past this).

Normally, I build and install a package before reviewing if it works. I had forgotten that with biber I need to build it manually to see what had changed, and allowing tests to fail meant I overlooked that Class-Accessor was needed until I tried to run biber.

I've now rebuilt biber and am back to one test failure (test number 12 of t/sortorder.t - I assume that is the old "locales differ on OSX" problem).

But no joy, my bibliographies are still empty. Looking at the styles, I appear to be using style=numeric natbib=true in the first document. Those styles come from biblatex itself, and the logs show they are indeed found.

Perhaps my failures in the tests for Data-Uniqid indicate that module is failing here.

Giving back to the book, along with the extra modules. I suggest we revisit this if there is a newer version, or else when texlive-2016 appears.

I might have another look at this later, but no promises and I will not take the ticket back unless I make progress.

Replying to ken@…:

That seems to be unrelated.

I came back to this, initially to check that my own tests will now correctly determine the failure. When checking to ensure I had the correct version of biblatex, I discovered 3.4 was updated 4 hours ago and is described as development (3.3 is stable).
