There appears to be issues with the build of Thunderbird. There is problems with the functionality of both the 0.7.3 and 0.8 builds. The package will build and install fine, however, functionality is broken and/or missing.
We are working to resolve the issue, and, at last report, there may be revised build instructions for all the Mozilla family of packages.

Updated BLFS to Thunderbird-0.8. Added two sed commands to remove overlay definitions. Removed helpMenuOverlay definition to restore proper menu functionality. Removed cookieContextOverlay definition to remove bogus error messages displayed on the Thunderbird display screen.
The imbeded help facility is broken. Keeping the bug open due to the help problem and overlay hacks until these are resolved.

Apparently, we can add the --disable-freetype2 switch to configure and drop the freetype_fix patch. Also, the package can be installed in /usr (there is a small conflict with $prefix/bin/defaults/profile/prefs.js with the Firefox package).
These changes should be incorporated at the next version increment.

I would also like to see us drop the "Mozilla" from MozillaThunderbird in the name of the package. We don't say MozillaFirebird, so for consistency sake, perhaps they should be the same.

Update to Thunderbird-1.0. All issues have been resolved. No more hacks or patches. Additionally, the name entity has been changed from MozillaThunderbird to just Thunderbird and the build instructions now use /usr as the $PREFIX.
The help and release notes issue is resolved. There are no more outstanding issues. The package builds cleanly with all functionality available.
