I don't regard this as urgent, but the big pending changes to be ready for ff-53 are now in so I should be able to squeeze it in.

Why not just skip it and wait for ff-53? No need for the extra work.

I'd already put it on the machine where it frequently crashes on some cold boots (the phenom - I now suspect undervoltage in the memory, far too early to see if it actually fixes anything and seems unlikely), it was just a matter of doing a clean build with the book's mozconfig and measuring it. I'd already looked at the changes - a new extension using telemmetry if people try to download updates from mozilla and the certificate is wrong: but no such extension in my build - and some random windows, js, docker changes. No big deal and it allows me to delay trying to grok gimp scripting. ;-)

Further note: on 52.0.1 my tab icons already load ok on session restore.
