#1773 closed enhancement (invalid)

Testing lfs trac

Reported by: peterennis@… Owned by: lfs-book@…
Priority: normal Milestone: 6.2
Component: Book Version: SVN
Severity: normal Keywords: trac usability
Cc: lfs-dev@…

Description

  1. The website does not reference trac. Found it by search.
  1. I want to add a bug with an attachment but there is no

attach button on the front page, so this ticket is being created to see if I can attach a file after submit.

  1. There is no trac component in the list, using Book.

  1. Trac is referred to on the website. If you go to any of the projects (LFS, BLFS, etc...) and click "Report a bug" you're sent to the LFS Wiki.
  1. Yes, you can only attach a file after the initial ticket submission.

www.linuxfromscratch.org

Click "Report a bug"

Then I end up on the LFS Wiki - true

Now I look around for the place to report the bug.

"Vew Tickets", "Register" and "Login" are the candidate choices closest to "Report a bug". Eventually I work out that I should register, login and then I will be informed that I can "Report a bug".

Compare:

bugzilla.redhat.com

Search options

Enter a new bug report - obvious link brings up the page:

Login I need a legitimate login (email address) and password to continue.

The "usability" issue is the disconnect between "Report a bug" and how to do it on the Wiki.

RFE:

It would be more clear if the landing page(s) for the "Report a bug" links showed a "How to Report a bug" button that would provide a page to let new reporter(s) know what is expected of them.

It could also explain that attachments can be made after creating a ticket.

Using component Book as there is no trac selection available.

This is the ticketing system for the LFS book, not the LFS website. While I understand your confusion, the proper forum for discussion can be found here: http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/website/

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
