For later after lfs-3.0 has been released. We'll have to then start compiling a list of all such patches that exist and add them all at the same time.

I've just found another one. A patch to sh-utils-2.0 which makes uname -p actually *work*. Gerard, I think it would be an idea to start collecting these together. I was thinking of making a directory on ftp.linuxfromscratch.org, maybe misc/lfs-patches or just lfs-patches.

Then we could upload them there (with a note of the source) and, once we have all of the ones we want, then add them to the book. If we don't do something like this, it'll never happen!

Oh, any BTW, look at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~markh/templfs/

You'll find the sh-utils patch there for now, along with a .desc file. I think we should follow this format for all the patches (PACKAGE, PATCH, PURPOSE in the .desc file) so that when we come to mention them, we can remember where the h*ll we got them from.

works for me. get the two patches attached to bugzilla's bug #18 (this bug) and put them in ftp.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs-patches/

all three patches listed here are now in ftp.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs-patches

Any more which are found should be placed in there (.patch file and .desc file; see examples) and noted in this bug.

How about the preemptive kernel patch?

I think this could be done for LFS 5 - the patches web site is now up, we can briefly mention it someplace in the book.
