Yeah, unfortunately that patch isn't what the kernel guys want to see. http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2006-12/msg00010.html suggests the patch should actually be made against Glibc's source. We'll see how the Glibc guys respond in due course, I guess.

I'd rather not update now - there is ipv6-related oops (see http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/11/29/335, but the patch from there doesn't work).

Oh, is that fixed in 2.6.19.1? The headers issue seems to be fixed there (at least the Changelog says it).

The changelog mentions both issues. However, I have not tested this kernel yet.

I am going to rebuild the whole LiveCD with the headers from linux-2.6.19.2. If nothing bad pops up, I'll update LFS.
Sorry, but I have to remove the support for reiser4 and loop-AES from the CD, because there are no versions of these patches compatible with linux-2.6.19.x.

I have rebuit the LiveCD successfully with this kernel and its headers. Since the only package on the CD that required patching is reiserfsprogs, I think that the update is safe. On the BLFS side, I will handle the reiserfsprogs changes.

There is a need to have a look on the headers. I tested this version by simply drop the new version in and failed to compile glibc. There are some symbols missing. I searched a bit and found a patch at http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2006-10/msg00024.html. With this, it seems to compile fine now. I applied that patch right after the headers were installed in chap5 as well as in chap6.
