binutils recommends building from seperate directory, ala gcc and glibc style

it does suggest this but only in a subdir of the binutils packages (the binutils subdir). OTOH, in the / of the package it says that just doing a ./configure && make && make install will work fine. The docs aren't particularly clear and as we haven't had problems I suggest just going with what we know works, i.e. no change.
