Description
The book (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/chapter01/how.html) says:
As an alternative to installing a separate distribution onto your machine, you may wish to use the Linux From Scratch LiveCD. The CD works well as a host system, providing all the tools you need to successfully follow the instructions in this book. Additionally, it contains all the source packages, patches and a copy of this book. So once you have the CD, no network connection or additional downloads are necessary.
However, this is not true for development versions of the LFS book - the included sources are for the stable book, and the included book is stable.

Summary: | LFS LiveCD doesn't contain all sources → LFS LiveCD is dead |
---|
The bug in the book still exists. The book should not mention the dead CD at all.

The LFS LiveCD should not be considered dead, and available for development use / pickup project should time and resources allow.
However Alex is correct in that a wording change should be made to the book to notify that the current LFS live CD build is aimed only at stable vesion X.X
I'll look into updating this wording.

Updated the discussion in Chapter 1 explaining that the LiveCD is out of date.
Fixed at revision 8675.
as the LiveCD project is sentenced to death.... shouldn't we close this ticket as WONTFIX? trying to have or not have all the sources in the LiveCD seems a bit irrelevant as it's not going to continue its development process (given the fact I haven't been living in another planet and the development still goes on :P)
