I'm creating this page at the moment and I'm wondering whether to differentiate between for example the "<screen>" and "<filename>" tags as they appear (to the user) to be the same [in this case fixed case text]. I think we should do in case in future the styles which are rendered in the html etc. are changed. Opinions?

I wouldn't worry about that quite yet. Those things should be changed, more filename tags should be added, etc, etc, but that's for the future and not something that'll happen overnight. What the book looks like now, it'll look like in a few months from now too, probably, unless somebody has a lot of time to fix it all up.
The conventions page isn't that large, so it'll be a small task updating it when we make layout changes to the book.
So to rehash, don't differentiate for now.
