Description
On the page for Man-DB, it says to apply a patch that will fix utf8 handling of col. However, it seems that the real issue is that, at that point, col has not yet been installed. Without the patch, the testsuite will fail when it attempts to run the nonexistent col program. The MAN_KEEP_FORMATTING variable set by the patch fixes this by simply telling the testsuite not to attempt to run col at all.
I guess the intent of the upstream patch *was* to deal with utf8, but in the context of the LFS book, when col does not even exist when Man-DB is being installed, it isn't really an accurate description.

Thanks for the report Chris. Once the fix for #2391 goes in though, it will actually be accurate as that puts the build of Util-Linux-NG quite some time before Man-DB. Are you happy enough for me to just close this once #2391 gets fixed?
