If I do a 'modprobe sg' on my box, I get:
WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/.

That file in udev-config/doc/ is gone now.
I'm fixing the rest.

Should be fixed in r9167. The only thing that refers to modprobe.conf now is the manpage reference. I could change that to modprobe.d(5), except that this manpage is invalidly-formatted: it tries to source modprobe.conf.5, not man5/modprobe.conf.5, so man-db complains.
I'd file a bug, except the module-init-tools bugzilla appears to be dumping out a perl script instead of interpreting it. Hmm. :-)
