On LFS-6.5 and a 64-bit build, I get 90 tests were successful. 8 tests were skipped. None failed.
Skipped tests 68, 85, 93-98.
53 and 91 passed.
Same results on an older 32-bit LFS system.
tests/star/README:
"This directory contains scripts for testing GNU tar using star "test archives". The archives themselves can be obtained from ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/star/testscripts.
These tests are disabled by default. ..."
These are tests 93-98.

Feedback from author is that test 91 fail when test run as root.
Similary test 53 is skipped when test is run as root
