there's a minor patch at http://www.brun.dyndns.org/pub/linux/lilo/ to bring it up to lilo-22.0.1

This new version fixes a rather bad security hole where the password file was created as 0644 instead of 0600. It's only available as a patch. Should I patch it up and create a lilo-22.0.1.tar.bz2 file? It's not difficult and I think it'll be easier than making people download a patch and apply it. It is after all an official release, just one without a new tarball for some reason...

I've spoken to the lilo maintainer about this patch yesterday, a definite answer hasn't been given yet, other than him saying he was too lazy to make a 22.0.1 release because the issue is quite minor (there aren't very many people who would benefit from it).
Before we package it up ourselves, let's wait until he gets back to me about this.

Okay just got word. He wasn't able to upload the patch to metalab without first removing the lilo-22.tar.gz file (metalab uses an automated procedure to update software, adding a new file didn't work).
I don't think we should re-package it. I realize it's another patch and a pain to download, apply, etc. but we should stick with using original unmodified packages (so let's not start providing non-existant versions, it'll just confuse people in the end).
When you add the patch to appendix d, keep lilo's original download location at metalab but the patch's download location to brun.dyndns.org (he's not on that great of a internet connection so let's give him a break and not point to him for the main package).

lilo-22.0.2 has been released. fixes compile problem when using kernel headers from 2.4.12 upwards.
Again, only available from http://brun.dyndns.org/pub/linux/lilo/ but this time as a full .tar.gz file. metalab still only has the 22.0 release

I heard lilo-22.3 requires the NASM package installed? That'll be nasty if true. Grub time? :)

I'm pretty sure by now that lilo will be replaced by Grub soon. Though discussion on lfs-dev hasn't ended yet, I'm assuming it's result.

Version increment (22.3.3) just for the sake of it; status has not changed.
Upgraded version number. Seems to compile as well as before, no new major changes.
