This was just a few formatting changes and that. The patch is still needed to add the ldd and ld.so pages. Did whoever first put the patch in (probably Gerard!) ask the man-pages maintainer if he'd consider adding the pages to the main package? Anyway, the upgrade to 1.39 is done including patch.

Although the man-pages Makefile handles creation of the relevant subdirectories under the /usr/share/man hierarchy, we may want to alter the "Creating Directories" section in order to maintain consistency.
