Description
Bash must be compiled prior to binutils or the configure script results in a segmentation fault. Tested on about four machines with the latest versions of all packages from their sources, using all patches as recommended.
The solution is just to compile bash again before binutils

This will automaticallly get fixed when we do upgrade to bash-2.05b. Any bash upgrades problems that arise at that time will be dealt with immediately (or the upgrade won't be performed).
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
This is a known problem with static bash-2.05b. That is the reason the book has not been upgraded to bash-2.05b. See <http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/view/cvs/chapter06/bash.html> and too see past reports <http://search.linuxfromscratch.org/index.cgi?query=bash+segmentation+fault+binutils&submit=Search%21&metaname=swishdefault>.
