Version increment (1.4.2). Although it's on alpha.gnu.org we'd be going against upstream advice not to have this in the book!

Version increment (1.4.4). Looks pretty inocuous to me:

  • ./configure --infodir=/usr/share/info now works correctly.
  • When any file named on the command line is missing exit with status 1.

(In reply to comment #7)

Version increment (1.4.4). Looks pretty inocuous to me:

  • ./configure --infodir=/usr/share/info now works correctly.

Is it needed though? We have the symlinks and it doesn't appear they will be going away any time soon without modifying several packages known and unknown.

If this isn't a problem, then my tests show it is a direct drop in replacement. I'll update the book with just the version bump.

Updated trunk (r7070). Re-open if you feel --infodir is needed.

Wow, I really need to be more verbose at times. The two bullet points were simply what was in the Changelog file for this release, I didn't intend it to mean that we should look at using the --infodir flag. Thanks for fixing!
