Description
"make install" couldn't work (within my reduced linux knowledge) without removins symlink /usr/man to install gcc-3.3.1 which wanted to create directory "man" in /usr and which were unable to do it with the presence of the symlink identically for /usr/info but for glibc first

Umm, something must be wrong in your environment because those symlinks have been there for a very long time without causing problems like you observed. I'd suggest posting stuff like this to the lfs-support mailing-list/newsgroup where you'll have a better chance of getting some help to resolve the problem.
