Description
I think this archive should be made into a '*.tar.bz2' so that is will be smaller.
(...or maybe I should just get a cable modem *grin*)

I tend to agree. It may save you say 3 minutes download time, but like Mark Hymers said, on a 80 MB or so file that will take in such cases hours upon hours already, is 3 minutes really going to make a difference? It'll take forever to unbzip2 a 80 MB file on your end if you have a slow cpu.

Given the feeling on this even from the reporter (on lfs-book), I think we can mark it won't fix.

As most of the packages inside the archive are compressed with bzip2 already, compressing it wouldn't gain a lot - I just tested it and we'd only save 445K on an 80Mb file so I'm not sure it's worth it really.
