Wayne, you'll have to raise it as a WebKit bug it seems. It's due to their new sandboxing code.
I wonder if there's a way to disable the web process sandbox.

There is a way to disable sandboxing, as part of the webkit-gtk build. -DENABLE_BUBBLEWRAP_SANDBOX=OFF I don't think the parameter is needed if bubblewrap is not installed. Anyway, that is the work around, but it is not ideal if you want sandboxing.

FYI, I have an issue with epiphany-3.34.0. I cannot traverse the local filesystem and have raised a bug upstream. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/issues/934
