From Joe Locash via BLFS Support: 

In the instructions for building mplayer there is a note that says "The package maintainers recommend building without any optimizations."  To fully comply with that note
  --enable-runtime-cpudetection
should be used during configure or by default it will optimize for the processor it's built on.

We should add --enable-runtime-cpudetection to comply with that note
