libxml and libxslt are satisfied by the Scrollkeeper dependency. Python is also a recommended dependency. Additionally, a large note is placed on the page right after these recommended dependencies, stating you should install them, or suffer the consequences.

recommended != required.
It is possible to build GNOME Doc Utils without Scrollkeeper but not without libxml and libxslt. So libxml and libxslt are requirements for GNOME Doc Utils.

Agreed they are required. I will fix this now, before I finish the GNOME-2.14.3 update. Thanks for the persistence. However, I'm sure you'll agree that only libxslt needs to be listed in the 'required' dependencies.

Added libxslt as a required dependency of GNOME Doc Utils
'gnome-doc-utils.pc' isn't installed without a python interpreter, but 'gnome-doc-utils.pc' is required for evince.
