Not sure whether it is a good time to switch to meson... It seems 2.15.0 had an issue with man page location, but it has been fixed in 2.15.1.

Status: assigned → closed

Fixed at e11981df3f. Moved to meson build system. This prevents running the test suite under valgrind, but solves some other problems like .la files and xml2-config (which internally calls pkg-config).
