Description
Version increment to 0.99.01
This version (the 0.99 series) introduces regressions that make nasm unusable. Upstream is aware, but has not yet pronounced it as fixed, though there has been some effort in CVS to fix it.
I recommend holding off until this series becomes more stable. A simple test is trying to compile FLAC-1.1.4. The current 0.99.01 fails miserably.

Please ensure that every multimedia program compiles correctly. There was initially many, many issues. I meant to take this ticket but somehow missed it. I'm in the midst of starting all the multimedia packages right now.

I've recently compiled NASM 2.06 and used it to compile FLAC 1.2.1 and XviD 1.2.2. Both compiled without any issues, and the FLAC testsuite finished without a problem; considering how thorough the FLAC testsuite is I would say that there aren't any issues with it. I used --enable-asm-optimizations during configure on FLAC to ensure that the assembly routines were used. I have also checked libmpeg 1.7 and 1.8, respectively, and both of those compiled without much of an issue.
I can check more if you would like, I know that SDL makes use of NASM. However, so far it seems to be quite usable.

Bruce, it looks like you are sleeping on this. Wanna let someone take over (like me, if I was a editor.)
Now NASM is at 2.04.
