Description ¶
In Chapter 3, The Bash Shell Startup Files, /etc/profile.d/X.sh tests for the existence of /usr/X11R6/bin/X and /usr/X11R6/lib/pkgconfig, but since /usr/X11R6 is symlinked to /usr, the additions to PATH and PKG_CONFIG_PATH are unnecessary.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
The instructions to install Xorg allow a user to put the X hierarchy at /usr/X11R6 or basically any other directory desired. They also point back to the Bash Startup files for examples of how to set up for these choices.
If the user does install X in /usr, the script does nothing.
