I'd like to get this into 6.3 if at all possible. I'm changing the target to 6.3 in hopes a release of xorg-server will happen soon. The only config modification will be set up for evdev to use input hotplug, and perhaps that should be left to the wiki for the hal policy. Oh, and not allowing for XFree86 anymore. Also, the links for /etc/X11 need reversed...think there is another bug for that one though.

I'm against inclusion of Xorg-7.3 into BLFS-6.3. Reasons:
1) It needs major changes in the keyboard configuration if built with HAL, and there may be compatibility problems with the GNOME applet for switching the keyboard layout. This objection will be removed if HAL is listed as "unwanted dependency" and steps are taken to avoid its use even if it is found.
2) Multi-board support is completely broken
3) Dual-head setups are no longer possible with non-RandR-1.2 drivers (and not all drivers support RandR-1.2).

I believe all of Alexander's concerns above have been answered by time. The configuring keyboard and mouse items need to be reworked to account for HAL (if enabled) and typical hal policies created in the wiki (with maybe one example in the book for each), but AFAIK, using the legacy entries work for now, r7619. Closing. I'll add a new bug regarding HAL input.
Should this be a 6.3 ticket?
