Old versions have been removed from the maintainer's website. Reading the changelog, I suspect this is deliberate, and is related to a security vulnerability introduced in 1.6.9p9 (comments 645 and 649).

After installing the new version just over the previous one, sudo still seems to work as expected (what a wonder:-) So i think this update can go immediately into the book.
