Description

Version to be launched to replace WebKitGTK+-2.8.1 will require libhyphen and libnotify, after "addition of automatic hyphenation support".

https://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-gtk/2015-April/002343.html

I've not yet verify what libhyphen is (other than the obvious) or requires.

Will wait the release, for further action.

I updated to webkitgtk-2.8.4 a couple of days ago. I'm not sure how this ticket relates to that. Can someone clarify?

I created this so we do not forget. Might have misunderstood. But we have:

https://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-gtk/2015-April/002343.html

After some fixes to the CMake build system and the addition of
automatic hyphenation support to WebKitGTK+, libhyphen and libnotify
are required for all bots that run build-webkit. Please double-check
that you have these packages (and their development packages)
installed to avoid EWS and buildbot downtime. Thanks!

I don't know what buildbot means.

[webkit-gtk] WebKitGTK+ 2.9.1 released!

...

What's new in the WebKitGTK+ 2.9.1 release?
===========================================

  - New disk cache implementation when using the network process.
  - Web inspector UI has been redesigned.
  - Add support for automatic hyphenation using libhyphen when it's available.
  - Fix network redirection to a non HTTP destination.

I never use nor used automatic hyphenation personally nor for publications, but if it exists, some people must like it.

This library is apparently used with hunspell and can be found at

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hunspell/files/Hyphen/

My first thought was that it would be immediately needed for the next micro version, but probably it is for the next minor. And apparently optional.

Perhaps we could close the ticket, but keep it in mind for not missing it, depending on the new minor?

A buildbot is a system that automatically builds applications, somewhat like we build the book every night.

I see you quoted info for the WebKitGTK+ 2.9.1 release. From that, I conclude that we should be waiting for WebKitGTK+ 2.10. What we just updated to was version 2.8.4.

Oh, yes, thanks! Need to memorize that: buildbot = auto build system.

Yes, it is for versions ≥ 2.10.

It is optional, thus not really needed.

It was possible to avoid Hyphen using -DUSE_LIBHYPHEN=OFF.
