Using longindex to find something else, I noticed the dcraw_ programs from libraw. Took a quick look at that page to see if they might be interesting, but the external refs to the dcraw manpage are broken.

Google found the page at https://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/dcraw.1.html (i.e. remove spurious initial www. and change http to https), but firefox objected to that as insecure and I had to add an exception.
After getting there, I think that plain http will be correct (need to test on a different machine now that this one has the exception enabled).
