Description
DIY doesn't do it, because it isn't necessary, and it is a source of problems. If you still think static linking is good, look here to see the Glibc mantainer's views on static linking: http://people.redhat.com/drepper/no_static_linking.html
It is a serious issue with binutils pass1, if I'm not mistaken.
