Description
Version update.
I notified Colin Watson (Debian's groff mantainer and the man-db maintaner) about this version, he may make a new Debian fixes patch sometime... When I get that patch, I will upload it here.

Won't fix. Please create a new ticket when a working patch that adds "ascii8" and "nippon" devices actually appears, or when LFS moves to plain Man (patched in order to drop support for translated messages and manual pages, see http://www.mail-archive.com/lfs-dev@linuxfromscratch.org/msg12112.html) instead of Man-DB.

Reopened, as there is "preconv". So we are waiting not for the "nippon" and "ascii8" patch, but for support of the "preconv" preprocessor in Man-DB.

I emailed Colin and Ukai (the other Debian groff maintainer) about preconv, and here is Colin's responce:
I believe it already does as of man-db 2.4.4 (i.e. ages ago). However I
haven't tested this in some time and expect to make a few tweaks in the process of figuring out how to integrate groff 1.20.1 into Debian.
Cheers,

Upgraded in r8790, but with some caveats as outlined in http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/pipermail/lfs-dev/2009-February/062605.html. Tickets for those issues will be raised shortly, so they don't get forgotten about.

Pls4u2 fix
configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --enable-multibyte
10q
I just started investigating how easy it would be to disable, but this appears to have grown a non-optional build dependency on some things from netpbm.
/bin/sh: xpmtoppm: command not found /bin/sh: pnmdepth: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pnmtops: command not found
That wouldn't be the best outcome in Chapter 6 where you don't want to introduce that heavy of a dependency.
