Recent distro's don't need this and we can pass make or configure the proper
alternative variable values. Try installing LFS from some older distro's and get
a feel when it doesn't work anymore (say old as in Redhat 5.x)
Then we'll decide if we should keep it or just declare those distro's too old
that practically nobody uses them anyways.

I was going to test it on redhat 5.2 but I don't have that cd at home at the moment. Postponing for later.
