Description
I've completed creating of a lfs system by lfs book 4.0-RC1, and at the first reboot it prints "Starting system log daemon..." after all kernel strings and stops... What is wrong?

ive had the same problem quite a few times. since i upgraded to LFS-4.1 i havn't had the problem so i think that this one has died out by itself

One known issue is an unclean shutdown of syslogd where the /var/run/syslogd.pid was left behind, although cleanfs is supposed to take care of this.

i can confirm (atleast in my case) that that wasnt the cause. but i 'sposeif if inetutils gets merged into the LFS book then this bug wont really matter anyway ;-)

Too bad this bug isn't easily reproducable. I'd like to see a strace output from a hanging process. We'll probably end up chalking it up to one of those miscellaneous weird problems that can't be fixed.
