E2fsprogs-1.34 command descriptions and program list need update before 5.0 release.

E2fsprogs-1.34 command diverge unnecessarily from the instructions in the developers "INSTALL" file regarding build location. Also, the "--enable-elf-shlibs" and "make install-libs" effects are not adequately described and the effect on the install components and system resource usage are not addressed.

I've run local tests and have supporting docs and have generated a patch that attempts to correct these deficiencies.

I'll attach them to a post when I see the bug appear.

It seems a consensus was not reached on this subject from the thread:

Changing to P2 to fix in the next release so more testing can be done.

Bill - I seem to have completely forgotten about this bug! Having read through the brief discussion linked to comment 1, your patch seems sane (although I've not read through the patch itself). Unless there's any strong objections, I'll make your suggested changes, and also update the instructions according to those in the INSTALL file (we build gcc in a separate build dir because that's what upstream suggest, so why ignore e2fsprogs devs?).
