Although qemu emulates a cirrus hardware, the xorg-cirrus-video driver has very low performance (less than 10 FPS for glxgears), much lower than the vesa driver and now the modesetting driver (around 800 FPS with my core-i5 CPU).
Furthermore it does not build with version 1.17.1 of the Xorg server. So I suggest archiving it.
I won't do that until somebody else has reviewed that ticket.

I somehow missed ticket #6177, although I reviewed tickets before opening this one. Closing as duplicate, and I'll comment on #6177. Sorry for the noise.
