Right now the book uses "make install" to install net-tools. However this
creates backups of all binaries installed (a quite unusual behaviour,
unique to this package's install). Among them is the hostname.old which
the LFS book mentions. If you reinstall the net-tools package with the
chapter 6 instructions you end up with lots of .old files. I suggest
replacing "make install" with "make update" which has the same
functionality but does not create backups.
